Professional Profile 

Eric M. Nelson is a partner in our San Diego office.  His practice includes representation of clients in the software, Internet, electrical, mechanical and telecommunication markets.  He focuses on patent-related matters, technology licensing, and developing intellectual property strategies. Mr. Nelson’s clients range from Fortune 500 to emerging and venture capital financed companies.

Mr. Nelson works with a variety of technologies, including: 

  • Electrical/Computers: architecture, analog/digital circuits, video, and televisions 
  • Software, Internet and Data Processing: applications, operating systems, distributed and embedded systems, streaming, encoders, decoders, application service providers (ASP), Internet appliances, image/video processing, education software, gaming, artificial intelligence, neural networks, business software, and networking
  • Telecommunications: cellular applications, location systems, satellites, and modems

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Nelson developed new operating systems and application software for IBM.  During his tenure in law school, he was the Notes and Comments Editor for the Baylor Law Review.  Mr. Nelson has had numerous articles and comments published in the U.S., Europe, and Korea. 

Mr. Nelson joined the firm in 1997 and became a partner in 2003.
