Description

On Thursday, June 26, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., in room 7AB, Knobbe Partner Ned Israelsen will be moderating a panel titled "Navigating the Intellectual Property Minefield to Protect Personalized Medicine Innovations Worldwide" at the BIO Personalized Medicine & Diagnostics Forum.

Description:

Next-generation sequencing and advances in understanding the genetic basis of disease have made a new era of personalized medicine possible. Numerous drugs are now being developed with companion diagnostics, but with high development and regulatory costs, innovators need adequate intellectual property protection to justify their investments. Recent legal decisions and local patent policies present obstacles to obtaining IP for personalized medicine inventions and could prevent such therapies from reaching the market. A panel of top U.S. and European attorneys, a major diagnostics company and university technology transfer representatives will discuss these issues and provide creative strategies for protecting personalized medicine innovations.
