Knobbe Martens Partner John M. Carson to Moderate AEREO Workshop at AIPPI’s 2014 World Intellectual Property Congress

On Monday, September 15, Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP partner John M. Carson will be speaking at the 2014 World Intellectual Property Congress hosted by the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). The conference will take place at the Metro Toronto Convention Center from September 14 to September 17. This event offers attendees an opportunity to participate in the establishment of new international IP protocols and learn about current IP issues and cases.

Mr. Carson will be mediating a panel that will be discussing the recent case against AEREO, a TV-over-internet service, who broadcasters argued was illegally capturing over-the-air broadcast signals for free, and then charging users to watch over the Internet. The workshop will discuss the decision from the U.S. perspective with stakeholders from both sides on the panel. It will also take a comparative view of relevant laws and business models in Canada and Europe. .

The workshop will take place on Monday, September 15, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Room 107 at the Metro Toronto Convention Center. For the full conference agenda and details on how to register, please click here.
