Partner William R. Zimmerman was selected as 2016 Washington D.C. “Super Lawyer” for his work in intellectual property litigation. Mr. Zimmerman represents clients in all aspects of intellectual property disputes, focusing primarily on patent cases at both the district court and appellate levels. He has participated in all phases of the firm’s litigation practice, including pretrial, trial and appellate stages of litigation, and he has experience in obtaining and defending against preliminary injunctions. Mr. Zimmerman has worked extensively in the area of pharmaceutical litigation, and is well-versed in the Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) process and the complexities of litigation involving pharmaceuticals under the Hatch-Waxman Act. He also has experience in obtaining and licensing pharmaceutical-related intellectual property.

Partner Jonathan E. Bachand was selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers’ 2016 Washington D.C. "Rising Stars" list for his work in intellectual property litigation. Mr. Bachand represents various clients in all areas of intellectual property law with an emphasis on representing generic drug makers in Hatch-Waxman litigation. Mr. Bachand has experience representing pharmaceutical and medical device companies at all levels of litigation, including pretrial, trial, and in appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He also has experience representing both patent owners and petitioners before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board in numerous inter partes review proceedings involving pharmaceutical, life science, and chemical processing patents.

In the “Super Lawyers” list, Super Lawyers recognizes the top five percent of attorneys in a region, selected through a process that includes peer nominations, a blue ribbon review panel and independent research of candidates. The Washington D.C. “Rising Stars” list includes the top 2.5 percent of attorneys in Washington D.C. who are age 40 or younger and/or have been in practice for less than ten years.
