Knobbe Martens and Attorneys Earn Top Distinctions as IP Leaders by Legal 500

IRVINE, CALIF., June 7, 2023 – Knobbe Martens is pleased to announce it has once again been recognized for having some of the leading intellectual property practices and practitioners in the United States by The Legal 500.

The firm earned a distinguished National Tier One ranking in the 2023 guide’s IP Patent Prosecution category. The guide noted the firm’s patent prosecution practice as being “beyond stellar” and “well-versed on the full scope of patent law, from the development and management of portfolios in more transactional matters, to the contested and complex.”

Legal 500 also named medical device practice co-chair Salima Merani, Ph.D. to their Hall of Fame, which highlights individuals who “have received constant praise from their clients for continued excellence” and are “the law firm partners who are at the pinnacle of the profession.” The guide also named fellow medical device practice co-chair Sabing Lee as a “Leading Lawyer” along with Dr. Merani, and partner Harnik Shukla was recognized as a “Next Generation Partner.”

The firm also received national rankings in IP Patent Licensing, IP Trademark (Non-Contentious and Litigation), and IP Patent Litigation. Legal 500 editors and clients surveyed for the guide called the firm’s licensing team “professional…with strong cross-functional knowledge.” The trademark practice group was “lauded for using its national presence to advise household name corporates on the maintenance and enforcement of their international trademark portfolios” as well as in “high-stakes infringement litigation.” The patent litigation team was recognized for its work in “life sciences and electrical, semiconductor, and computer technology litigation” as well as the significant number of attorneys with computer science or electrical engineering-related degrees.
