Managing IP Names Knobbe Martens and 13 Partners “IP Stars” for 2020

Knobbe Martens has again been recognized by Managing Intellectual Property (Managing IP) for outstanding work in a number of industries and IP-related fields. In addition, 13 of the firm’s partners have been singled out for individual achievement.

Managing IP’s annual edition of IP STARS, recognized as the leading specialist guide worldwide, awarded Knobbe Martens a coveted Tier 1 rating in IP Life Sciences and Patent Prosecution, and recognized their PTAB Litigation, Trademark Contentious, Trademark Prosecution, and Patent Contentious practices.

In California, the firm was “highly recommended” for its Patent Contentious, Patent Prosecution, Trademark Contentious and Trademark Prosecution practices. Managing IP further recognized the firm's Copyright & Related Rights practice in California and Intellectual Property practice in Washington State.

Thirteen Knobbe Martens partners were recognized as individual IP STARS for 2020, most of whom have previously been named to the list. Patent Stars include Maria Anderson, Carol Pitzel Cruz, Jon Gurka, Stephen Jensen, Christy Lea, Sabing Lee, Joseph Re, Robert Roby, John Sganga, Gerard von Hoffmann, and William Zimmerman. Trademark Stars include Salima Merani, Ph.D., Susan Natland and Robert Roby, while Dr. Merani was also named a Transaction Star.

In addition, Dr. Salima Merani and Susan Natland were named to the publication’s “Top 250 Women in IP” list, an honor recognizing senior female attorneys whose exceptional private IP practice has made them outstanding performers for their clients and firms in the past year. The selection was based on research obtained for both the 2020 edition of IP STARS and the annual Managing IP Awards.

The IP STARS annual rankings draw on six months of research into IP practitioners from thousands of firms in more than 70 jurisdictions around the world, and are based on an analysis of firm submissions, public information and market feedback.
